About the Event:
The latest production at The Old Vic,
Girl From the North Country
is an exquisite exploration of 1930s Depression-era America, set in a small guest house in Duluth, Minnesota.
Written and directed by Conor McPherson and featuring music and lyrics from Nobel Prize winning singer songwriter, Bob Dylan, this production has been praised as “an instant classic” (The Times *****), an “exceptional” (The Guardian *****) production, full of hope, heartbreak and soul. You've simply got to see this play, and I have just the occasion.
The show has been made possible with the generous support of the American Associates of The Old Vic (AAOV), has been organised and brought to the YCL by George King (Brown). The legacy of the connection between The Old Vic and Americans predates the period when Kevin Spacey was Artistic Director, but certainly received more attention during that time. Today, this incredible theatre wants to reaffirm and deepen its ties with its American audience and is offering to host an exclusive opportunity for the American community here in London.
On October 4th, join George for a friendly gathering at the theatre before a performance of this spectacular show. The Old Vic are offering an evening of drinks and nibbles, and include the price of the show and programme, for a generous 30% discount.
*** A few tickets are available, on a first-come first service basis. Please contact the Old Vic (see below) by Monday evening ***
