A small but enthusiastic crew turned out to cheer Yale on in Oxford. Regrettably the scores went against us but the team rode well, including a couple of players playing in their first-ever match. Join us tomorrow for Day Two of Atlantic Cup student polo -- these will be the fiercely contested final matches, held in Cambridge. Admission is free, but car parking passes are required. It's another great day out for the family, so bring a picnic or buy Asado which will be available for £10 on the day (cash and cards accepted).
Inaugurated in 2002, when Yale Polo Club issued a challenge to Oxford and Cambridge, the Atlantic Cup has since grown include Harvard Polo Club in a hard-fought tournament between four of the world's top academic institutions. The tournament is not only a sporting competition, but strives to foster connections between the top institutions in Britain and the US, as well as raising the profile of student polo. Join fellow alums, polo lovers and novices alike at these fun, informal matches. Yale is bringing a team over so you will have a chance to meet some current students -- many of whom had never picked up a mallet before they arrived in New Haven. Matches will be played at Kirtlington Polo Club in Oxford on Saturday the 22nd and at Cambridge County Polo Club in Lode on Sunday the 23rd.
