About the talk:

We are very lucky to have for our next event two leading lights on the Yale Art scene.

Amy Meyers, Director of the Yale Center for British Art, joins Brian Allen, Director of Studies at the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, to talk about the inter-relationships between their two institutions: the legacy of the past, their visions for the future and the exciting current and upcoming exhibitions and programmes with which they have been associated. Well-known for their enthusiastic and engaging style, it will be an evening not to be missed.

About the Speakers and their Institutions:

Amy Meyers (MA ’81, PhD ’85) has been Director of the Yale Centre for British Art since 2002, during which time the institution has gone from strength to strength.  She has underpinned the research and education programmes of the institution, expanded facilities and improved access for students, scholars and the public, and strengthened the conservation programme, all while overseeing an unending series of first-class international exhibitions.

Brian Allen is Director of Studies at Yale's Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. The Centre runs the leading publications programme in historic British Art in collaboration with Yale University Press and its grants and fellowship programme does much to support scholarship in the field. Brian Allen has written and lectured widely about eighteenth-century British art.
